Jesus was always very clear on what His purpose on Earth was. At the young age of twelve, Jesus told his parents, “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?” (Luke 2:49). Later Jesus declared, “I have come that {my sheep} may have life and have it to the full” (John 10:10). In order to give that abundant life to us, Jesus’ sheep, it is written, “The Good Shepherd {laid} down His life for the sheep” (John 10:11). Our purpose as stewards of the Good Shepherd is to glorify God and spread the Good News of Jesus’ death and resurrection which brings us forgiveness of sin and life everlasting with God.
